Seeing the Ecplise with a Silicon Eye

It’s not recommended to look directly into the sun but Insightness Silicon Eye (aka. DAVIS) sensor dared. In a collaboration with iniLabs we recorded some data of today’s eclipse that shows how the conventional frame-based readout suffers under the extreme light conditions while the event-based readout (in red and green) detects the contours of the eclipse flawlessly.

On the left you can see the a hand waving in front of the eclipse and on the right a zoom in with a different lens.
