Insightness Team expanded

At the beginning of the year, Jonas Strubel joined us as the last of three new team members who started working for Insightness. He is an experienced software developer who came from Thoratec Switzerland GmbH. Jonas has already extensively worked with event-based vision algorithms during his studies. He did a semester project as well as his Master thesis in the field of event-based vision algorithms. He joined our software team to constantly improve our software.

Already last summer, Stefan Isler joined Insightness as an algorithm developer and he already contributed substantially to our new software and algorithms. He also worked on event-based vision sensors during his Master thesis at the Vision for Robotics Lab at the ETH Zurich (“SLAM using Frame- and Event-based Cues”) and has extensive experience with simultaneous localization and mapping, active perception and collected first industry experiences during his internship at SenseFly. Stefan joined our software team to work on more experimental algorithms.

In fall, Michael Gassner joined us from the Robotics and Perception Group at the University Zurich. He does not only have extensive know-how in the field of simultaneous localization and mapping (he is a co-author of SVO 2.0), he also has a lot of experience with drone control which was the topic of his Master thesis (“Aggressive Maneuvers with Quadrotors”) and other projects. He also did an internship at SenseFly where he worked on drones which will be handy for his position as drone control engineer in our product team.
